The Census Dissemination Unit (CDU) at MIMAS, based at the University of Manchester, is pleased to announce the release of an updated (2004) supply of data for lower level super output areas (LSOAs) supplied by Experian for academic use. The dataset has three main components:
Mosaic UK household classification
Mosaic UK is a market-leading consumer segmentation product. It classifies all 24 million UK households into 11 groups, 61 types and 243 segments, and is updated each year.
Median Household Income
Experian has used a multi-stage process to create models that predict personal and household income. Using data from a number of surveys, including MORI's Financial Tracking Survey, models have been developed to predict personal income for a number of standard employment types. These were then accumulated to create household income based on the composition of the household.
Population Projections
Using methodologies developed in accordance with JICPOPs (Joint Industry Council for Population Standards), of which Experian is a leading member, Experian has produced projections of the number of households and the resident population for each year from 2004 up to and including 2016. Population projections are also split by gender and up to twenty age bands.
Access to the data is controlled by Athens authentication. Information about the Athens authentication system is available from the Census Registration Service website at http://census.data-archive.ac.uk.
